Using your insurance at the clinic

Dental cover in the UAE can be confusing. Two people with cards from the same insurer can have very different cover, because what you can claim depends on your own policy, not just the company name. We check your cover before your visit so you know exactly where you stand.

This page lists the networks we accept, how buy now, pay later options work, what is usually covered, and practical tips to make the most of your plan at Al Jazeera Dental Clinic in Al Majaz, Sharjah.

Understanding your dental insurance

Most UAE health plans include some dental cover, but the details vary. Many plans cover consultations, X-rays, cleaning, fillings, extractions and root canal treatment, often with a co-payment. Some have an annual dental limit, a waiting period for certain treatments, or exclude cosmetic and orthodontic work entirely.

Some treatments need pre-approval from your insurer before they start. We send the request for you with the X-rays and notes the insurer needs, and let you know as soon as we hear back.

Terms worth knowing

  • Co-payment: the share you pay
  • Annual limit: the maximum per year
  • Pre-approval: insurer agrees first
  • Waiting period: time before cover starts
  • Exclusions: treatments not covered

What to bring to your visit

To use your cover, please bring your card and Emirates ID. If you send photos of both on WhatsApp before your appointment, we can check your benefits in advance and avoid delays on the day. For children, bring their own card, as family members are often covered under separate numbers.

Checklist

  • Your card, front and back
  • Emirates ID
  • Any approval letters
  • List of medicines

Families and children

Many family plans include dental check-ups and fillings for children. Regular check-ups every six months make the most of these benefits and catch problems early, when treatment is simplest. If your plan doesn’t cover something your child needs, you can spread the cost with Tabby, Tamara or Toothpick.

See our children’s dentistry page for more about visits for children.

Good habits

  • Check-up every six months
  • Use benefits before they renew
  • Keep each child’s card handy

Emergencies and same-day care

If you’re in pain, don’t let paperwork delay treatment. We keep same-day slots every day until 10 PM. Bring your card and we will check your cover while we see you. Most plans cover emergency relief such as treating an infection or an extraction, and pre-approval can usually be arranged quickly when needed.

See our emergency dentist page for first aid advice.

In pain now? Call 06 715 6001 and come in. We’ll sort out the paperwork with you.

How instalment plans work

Tabby and Tamara let you split eligible bills into smaller payments, and Toothpick lets you book and pay for dental care through its app. Each provider decides whether to approve you and sets its own terms, so check the details in their app before you agree. We don’t add anything to the price of your treatment for using them.

Instalments are especially useful for treatment that your plan doesn’t cover, such as whitening, veneers, braces and aligners, or for your share of a larger plan.

Good to know

  • Approval is up to each provider
  • Terms are shown in their app
  • Same treatment price
  • Ask reception what applies
Tips

Making the most of your dental cover

Check before you book

Send your card on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you what is covered.

Use your annual limit

Plan larger treatment across policy years if your limit is low.

Keep up check-ups

Routine care is often fully or mostly covered and prevents bigger bills.

Ask for a written plan

You always get the full cost and your share in writing.

If your claim isn’t approved

Sometimes an insurer declines a claim or approves only part of the treatment. We explain the reason, discuss whether an appeal with more information may help, and talk through other options, including alternative treatments or spreading your share of the cost. Nothing starts until you agree the plan and the price.

Your options

  • Appeal with extra information
  • Choose an alternative treatment
  • Pay your share in instalments
  • Delay non-urgent work

Paying without insurance

You don’t need a health plan to visit us. The consultation and X-ray are free either way, and you get the full cost of any treatment in writing before anything starts. We accept cash and card, and you can use Tabby, Tamara or Toothpick to spread the cost.

Planning larger treatment

If you need several treatments, such as fillings, a root canal and a crown, we can plan them in stages. Urgent work comes first, to relieve pain and stop problems getting worse. Less urgent treatment can be scheduled over the following weeks or months, so the cost is spread out and fits your budget and your annual limit.

Your written plan shows each stage, what it includes and what you’ll pay, so there are no surprises. If your circumstances change, we can adjust the order or pace of treatment with you.

Staged plans help you

  • Treat urgent problems first
  • Spread the cost over time
  • Make the most of annual limits
  • Fit visits around work and family
