Teeth whitening cost in Sharjah: in-clinic, take-home and combined

Professional whitening is one of the simplest ways to refresh your smile. Here is how the options differ, what affects the price, and how to make the result last.

A brighter smile, priced honestly

Tea, coffee, karak, saffron and smoking all darken teeth over time, and enamel naturally becomes more yellow with age. Professional whitening lifts those stains safely, but the teeth whitening cost you’re quoted depends on the method, how many sessions you need and whether your teeth need cleaning or small repairs first.

This guide explains the three main whitening options, what drives the teeth whitening cost in Sharjah, what should be included, why salon and online kits can be a false economy, and how to keep your new shade for longer.

Three ways to whiten and how they compare

In-clinic whitening

A stronger gel applied by the dentist with your gums protected. Noticeable results in one appointment. Usually the highest teeth whitening cost per session.

Take-home trays

Custom trays made from moulds of your teeth, with a gentler gel worn at home for one to two weeks. Even, gradual results and trays you keep for top-ups.

Combined

A boost in the clinic followed by home trays. Often the most effective and longest-lasting option.

What changes the teeth whitening cost

The method. In-clinic whitening uses more chair time and stronger materials; take-home whitening includes the cost of making custom trays.

Your starting shade and type of stain. Yellow and brown surface staining responds well. Grey or banded staining from medicines or injury may need more sessions, or a different approach such as bonding or veneers.

Work needed first. Whitening should only be done on healthy teeth. A scale and polish, or fillings for small cavities, may be needed first.

Top-ups. Extra gel for future touch-ups is a small ongoing cost that keeps your result bright.

What a fair quote includes

When you compare clinics, remember that a fair teeth whitening cost should include a check-up to make sure whitening is safe for you, a record of your starting shade, protection for your gums, the whitening itself and a follow-up shade check. For take-home whitening it should include custom trays and enough gel for the full course.

Be cautious of very cheap offers that skip the check-up. Whitening over untreated decay or gum disease can be painful and the results uneven.

Check it includes

  • Check-up and shade record
  • Clean if needed
  • Gum protection
  • Custom trays for home use
  • Enough gel for the course
  • Follow-up shade check

Why salon and online kits are a false economy

Strong whitening products sold online or applied in beauty salons can burn the gums, cause severe sensitivity and damage enamel, and they aren’t checked against your teeth first. In the UAE, tooth whitening should be carried out or supervised by a licensed dentist. Mail-order trays that don’t fit let gel leak onto the gums and give patchy results. Fixing the damage can cost far more than the professional whitening cost would have.

How long does whitening last?

Results often last many months to a few years, depending on your habits, so the whitening price is spread over a long time. Coffee, tea, karak, cola, smoking and shisha bring staining back sooner. Keeping your take-home trays and doing short top-ups every six to twelve months keeps teeth bright for a fraction of the original whitening cost. Six-monthly cleans also remove new surface stain.

Is whitening safe?

When it is done or supervised by a dentist, yes. The gel is applied only to the teeth, the gums are protected, and the strength and timing are matched to you. Whitening doesn’t thin or damage healthy enamel. The most common side effect is temporary sensitivity to cold for a day or two, which a sensitivity toothpaste helps. Whitening is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for children.

Crowns, fillings and veneers don’t whiten

Whitening lightens natural enamel only. Crowns, veneers and tooth-coloured fillings keep the colour they were made in. If you have visible restorations on your front teeth, they may look darker than your newly whitened teeth and need replacing to match, which adds to the overall cost. We point this out at the shade check so there are no surprises.

Review

We compare shades and give you tips to keep your smile bright.

Insurance and paying in instalments

Whitening is cosmetic, so it’s usually not covered by insurance, although the check-up and cleaning beforehand often are. To spread the whitening price, we accept Tabby, Tamara and Toothpick, subject to each provider’s approval. You always get the full cost in writing before anything starts.

Whitening before a wedding or event

To get the best value from your whitening cost, plan whitening two to four weeks before a wedding, graduation or photoshoot. That leaves time for a check-up and clean, any small fillings first, and for the shade to settle. Teeth often look slightly whiter in the first day or two and then settle to their true new shade. Read more on our teeth whitening page, or see our guide to stained teeth. For independent advice, see the NHS guide to teeth whitening.

Food and drink after whitening

To protect your whitening price investment for the first 48 hours, while enamel is most porous, avoid strongly coloured food and drink: coffee, tea, karak, red sauces, curry, berries and cola. Choose water, milk, rice, chicken, fish and other light-coloured food. Drinking through a straw protects the front teeth. After two days you can return to your normal diet, rinsing with water after coloured drinks.

Sensitive teeth and whitening

If your teeth are already sensitive, you can usually still whiten, but the approach changes. We check the cause of the sensitivity first, because worn enamel, exposed roots or a cracked filling need attention before any gel is used. Then we may suggest a lower-strength take-home gel, shorter wear times, and a sensitivity toothpaste for a week or two before and during treatment.

This gentler route can take a little longer, but the final shade is usually just as good, and the whitening cost is often lower than a strong in-clinic session.

Gentler whitening

  • Find and treat the cause first
  • Lower-strength gel
  • Shorter wear times
  • Sensitivity toothpaste before and during
  • Rest days if needed

Whitening with braces or aligners

It’s best to whiten after braces come off, so the whole tooth surface lightens evenly; whitening around brackets can leave patches. With clear aligners, some people use their trays for whitening towards the end of treatment, but only under a dentist’s guidance, because attachments on the teeth can also cause uneven results. Planning whitening after orthodontics avoids paying the whitening price twice.

Whitening toothpaste and charcoal: do they work?

Whitening toothpastes mainly remove surface stain by gentle polishing. They can help keep teeth bright after professional whitening, but they can’t change the natural colour of the tooth. Some are quite abrasive, so use them carefully if your teeth are sensitive. Charcoal powders can scratch enamel and, over time, make teeth look more yellow as the darker layer underneath shows through. For a real change in shade, professional whitening is safer and better value than repeatedly buying products that don’t work.

Who should not whiten?

Whitening is not suitable for children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or while there is untreated decay or gum disease. People with very worn enamel or many front restorations may get better value from bonding or veneers. We tell you honestly at the shade check.
