Clear aligners cost in Sharjah: what you’re paying for
Two quotes for clear aligners can look very different. Usually the difference is in what is included. Here is how to compare them properly.

Not just a box of trays
Clear aligners straighten teeth with a series of transparent removable trays, each moving the teeth a small amount. They are popular with adults in Sharjah because they are almost invisible and can be removed to eat and brush. But clear aligners cost more than many people expect, and quotes vary widely.
The reason is that you aren’t just buying plastic trays. You’re paying for diagnosis, a digital treatment plan, the supervision of a dentist throughout treatment, any adjustments and the retainers that hold the result. This guide explains what changes clear aligners cost and how to compare offers fairly.
7 things that change clear aligners cost
Complexity
Mild crowding or small gaps need fewer trays than bite correction or severe crowding.
Number of trays
More movement means more trays and a longer treatment.
One or both arches
Treating only the top or bottom teeth costs less than both.
Refinements
Most cases need a few extra trays at the end to perfect the result. Check whether these are included.
Attachments
Small tooth-coloured bumps help aligners grip and move teeth precisely.
Check-ups
Regular reviews make sure teeth track as planned.
Retainers
Retainers after treatment are essential. Some quotes include them, some don’t.

Who is a good candidate?
Clear aligners work well for mild to moderate crowding, gaps, some bite problems and relapse after earlier braces. Complex cases such as severe rotations or large jaw discrepancies may be better treated with fixed braces. A good clinic will tell you honestly which suits your teeth, even if it’s not the option you came in for. Read our comparison of clear aligners vs braces.
Healthy gums and teeth come first. Any decay or gum problems are treated before aligner treatment starts.
Questions to ask before you sign
When comparing quotes, use the same checklist for each clinic. A low headline price can become expensive if refinements, emergency appointments or retainers are charged separately. Ask for everything in writing.
Checklist
- How many trays are planned?
- Are refinement trays included?
- Are check-ups included, and how often?
- Are retainers included, and which type?
- Who supervises my treatment, and how?
- What happens if a tray is lost?
Clinic-supervised vs at-home aligners
Some companies sell aligners directly to consumers with little or no in-person examination. They may look cheaper, but nobody checks your gums, roots or bite in person, and problems can be missed. Moving teeth with gum disease or untreated decay can make those problems worse. With clinic-supervised aligners, a dentist examines you, takes X-rays, plans the movement and checks progress. That supervision is part of what clear aligners cost, and it’s worth it.

How aligner treatment works
Consultation and X-ray
We check your teeth, gums and bite. The consultation and X-ray are free.
Records and plan
Scans or impressions and photos are used to plan each movement digitally.
Preview
You see a preview of the expected result before agreeing to start.
Wearing the trays
Wear each tray about 22 hours a day, changing to the next as instructed.
Check-ups
Regular visits make sure teeth are tracking and attachments are in place.
Retention
Retainers keep teeth in their new position.
How long treatment takes
Simple cases may take around 6 months, while more complex cases can take 12 to 18 months. The single biggest factor you control is wear time. Aligners only work when they are in your mouth, so taking them out for long periods slows progress and can add refinement trays. If you are often in meetings or eating out, plan how you’ll manage this before starting.
Insurance and paying in instalments
Most UAE health insurance plans don’t cover adult orthodontics, although some higher-tier plans include limited cover. We’ll check your policy. Many patients spread aligner cost with Tabby, Tamara or Toothpick; see our guide to paying for treatment in instalments. You always receive the full price in writing before treatment begins.
Looking after aligners
Brush your teeth before putting trays back in, so food is not trapped against the enamel. Rinse trays in cool water and clean them gently; hot water can warp them. Avoid drinking anything except water while wearing them, especially sweet or coloured drinks. Keep the case with you so trays aren’t wrapped in tissue and thrown away by accident, a very common way to lose them.
Keeping the result
Teeth naturally try to move back after any orthodontic treatment. Retainers prevent that, and most people wear a removable retainer at night long term or have a thin fixed wire behind the front teeth. Factor retainers into treatment cost from the start. Read more on our clear aligners page, and for general background see the NHS guide to orthodontics.
Why one clear aligners cost quote can be lower
Lower quotes sometimes cover a limited number of trays, exclude refinements, or include only one retainer. Some cover the upper or lower arch only. Others are priced for mild cases and rise once the full plan is made. When you compare aligner cost, line the quotes up item by item: number of trays, refinements, check-ups, attachments, whitening if offered, and retainers.
It’s also worth asking how progress will be checked. Regular in-person reviews catch problems early, such as a tooth not tracking, before they add months to treatment.
Clear aligners cost for teenagers
Aligners can also work well for teenagers, as long as they wear them consistently. Some systems include spare trays in case one is lost. Because teens are still growing, some bite problems are easier to correct at this age. Parents should factor in the cost of replacement trays and retainers when comparing treatment cost for a teenager with traditional braces, which can’t be lost or left out.
Can whitening be added?
Many patients like to whiten their teeth at the end of aligner treatment, using the final trays or custom whitening trays. This is optional and priced separately. It is best done once the teeth are in their final position. Whitening doesn’t change the colour of existing fillings, crowns or veneers, so we’ll explain what to expect. Read more on our teeth whitening page.
Your first step
The easiest way to get an accurate aligner cost is a consultation. We check your teeth and gums, take an X-ray, discuss your goals and tell you whether aligners or braces suit you better. You leave with a written plan and price, and there is no obligation to start.
Common mistakes with aligners
The most common problems we see aren’t wearing trays long enough, moving to the next tray too early, drinking sweet drinks with trays in, and losing trays wrapped in napkins at restaurants. Each of these can slow treatment or add refinements. Set reminders, keep the case with you and follow the schedule your dentist gives you, and treatment usually runs smoothly.
Speech and comfort
Some people notice a slight lisp for the first few days with new trays, which usually fades quickly. Each new tray can feel tight for a day or two; that pressure shows the teeth are moving. Switching to a new tray at bedtime helps many patients sleep through the first tight hours.
