How to choose the best dentist in Sharjah: 10 things to check
The best dentist for you isn’t always the nearest sign or the cheapest offer. Here are ten practical checks that help you find a clinic you can trust.
Finding a dentist you can trust
Sharjah has many dental clinics, and searching for the best dentist in Sharjah or a good dental clinic near you brings up a long list. Ratings help, but they don’t tell you everything.
This guide gives you ten simple things to check, the questions worth asking at your first visit, and the warning signs that suggest you should look elsewhere. It applies to any clinic, including ours.
10 things to check before you choose
1. A valid licence
Every clinic in Sharjah must hold a health facility licence. Ask for it or look for it displayed; ours is SHA Health Facility Permit HF-2025-000070.
2. You see your X-ray
A good dentist shows you the X-ray and photos and explains what they show in plain language.
3. The cost in writing
You should get the price in writing before treatment, including what insurance covers.
4. No pressure
You should never feel pushed to decide on the spot. Good dentists tell you what can safely wait.
5. Options explained
Expect the simplest option as well as the most complete one, with honest pros and cons.
6. Real reviews
Read recent Google reviews and look at how the clinic replies, especially to complaints.
7. Hours that suit you
Evening and weekend opening makes it far easier to keep regular check-ups.
8. Your insurance
Check that your network is accepted and that the clinic will handle approvals.
9. Emergencies
Ask how quickly they can see you for pain, swelling or a broken tooth.
10. A dentist who listens
The tenth check is the hardest to measure and often the most important: how you feel at the first visit. Did the dentist ask about your concerns before looking in your mouth? Did they explain what they were doing? Did you feel able to ask questions? If you are nervous about dental treatment, tell the clinic when you book and see how they respond. Our dental anxiety calmer has tips that help.
Questions to ask at your first visit
A first visit is a chance to judge the clinic as much as for the clinic to check your teeth. These questions quickly show whether a dentist is open and patient-focused.
Pay attention not only to the answers but to how they are given. A clear, unhurried answer is a good sign. Vague answers about cost, or reluctance to show you your X-ray, aren’t.
Worth asking
- What did you find, and can you show me?
- What happens if I wait?
- Is there a simpler or cheaper option?
- What exactly is included in this price?
- Who will do the treatment?
- What happens if something goes wrong afterwards?
Warning signs
Most clinics in Sharjah are professional and caring, but it’s worth knowing the signs that should make you pause.
If something feels wrong, it is fine to ask for a written plan and take time to think, or to get a second opinion. A good dentist won’t mind.
Be cautious if
- You are pressured to decide or pay the same day
- A lot of treatment is recommended without an X-ray
- The price isn’t given in writing
- Cosmetic treatment is pushed when you came for pain
- Whitening or veneers are offered outside a licensed clinic

Not sure what you need?
Get a free check-up and X-ray. A dentist explains your options and gives you the cost in writing. Open until 10 PM on Al Khan Street, Al Majaz.
Near, open late, or specialist?
For check-ups, cleaning, fillings and most everyday care, a clinic close to home or work with hours that suit you is usually the best choice, because you’re far more likely to keep regular visits. For complex treatment, such as implants, it makes sense to see a dentist with specific experience, even if it means travelling further. A good general dentist will tell you when you need a specialist and refer you.
If you are looking for a dentist who speaks your language, ask when you book. Our team speaks English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam and Filipino, and we have a female dentist for patients who prefer one.
How we measure up
We wrote this checklist as a clinic, so here is how Al Jazeera Dental Clinic in Al Majaz measures against it. You can check every point yourself at a free first visit.
We don’t place implants ourselves; we refer those cases to a trusted specialist and keep looking after the rest of your dental care.
