A confident smile that still looks like you
A Hollywood smile can transform stained, chipped, uneven or gappy front teeth into a bright, balanced smile. The secret to a great result is planning: the right shade and shape for your face, healthy gums, and a mock-up you can see before you commit.
This guide explains what veneers are, composite versus porcelain, the step-by-step process, choosing your shade, aftercare and what affects the cost at Al Jazeera Dental Clinic in Al Majaz, Sharjah.

What is a Hollywood smile?
A Hollywood smile is a set of veneers placed on the teeth that show when you smile, usually the upper front teeth and sometimes the lower ones too. Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of each tooth. Together they change the colour, shape, length and alignment of the smile so it looks even, bright and balanced.
The name comes from the polished smiles of film stars, but a good result today doesn’t have to look artificial. The best smiles suit the face: the right shade for your skin tone, tooth shapes that match your features, and natural details such as soft translucency at the edges.
Veneers can help with
- Stained or discoloured teeth that whitening can’t lift
- Chipped, worn or uneven front teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Teeth of different sizes or shapes
- Mildly crooked teeth, where braces aren’t wanted
Composite or porcelain veneers?
Composite veneers
Tooth-coloured resin shaped directly on your teeth, often in one visit. Little or no tooth is removed and repairs are easy. They can stain or chip sooner and need polishing over time.
Porcelain veneers
Made in a dental lab and bonded at a second visit. Very lifelike and highly stain-resistant, and they keep their colour for many years. A thin layer of enamel is usually removed first, so the decision is permanent.
Which is right for you?
It depends on your teeth, budget and how long you want the result to last. We explain both honestly and help you choose.
How your Hollywood smile is created
Consultation and photos
We discuss what you want, check your teeth and gums, take X-rays and photos, and talk through realistic options.
Smile design and mock-up
We plan the new shape and shade, then make a temporary mock-up so you can see and feel the result in your own mouth.
Preparation
Teeth are prepared as needed and impressions or scans are taken. For porcelain, temporaries protect your teeth while the lab works.
Fitting
Veneers are checked for fit, shape and colour, then bonded in place and polished. We review your bite and smile.
Is a Hollywood smile right for you?
Veneers work best on healthy teeth and gums. Decay and gum disease must be treated first. If you grind your teeth heavily, veneers can chip, so a night guard is essential. If your teeth are very crooked, straightening them first with clear aligners or braces can mean less tooth needs to be removed and gives a better result.
Sometimes a simpler treatment gets you most of the way. Mild staining may respond well to teeth whitening, and a single chipped tooth can often be bonded. We’ll tell you honestly if you do not need a full Hollywood smile.
Natural or ultra-white?
Very bright, opaque white teeth can look artificial in daylight. Many people are happier with a shade that’s clearly brighter than before but still looks like real teeth. We show you options against your skin and lips, in daylight as well as clinic lighting, and the mock-up lets you live with the look before deciding.
We also think about tooth shape. Softer, rounded edges tend to look gentle and youthful; squarer edges look bolder. Length matters too: the edges of the upper teeth should follow the curve of your lower lip when you smile.
Your smile design considers
- Face shape and lip line
- Skin tone and eye colour
- Gum line and symmetry
- Your bite and how the teeth meet
- Your personal style and preferences
Caring for your veneers
Look after veneers like natural teeth. Brush twice a day with a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste, clean between teeth daily and keep up regular check-ups and cleans. Avoid biting very hard things such as ice, nut shells or fingernails, and don’t use your teeth to open packets.
Porcelain resists staining well, but composite can pick up colour from tea, coffee and smoking, so regular polishing helps. If you grind your teeth, wear a night guard to protect your Hollywood smile.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers commonly last many years with good care. Composite veneers usually need polishing and occasional repair sooner. How long yours last depends on your bite, habits and home care.
Questions people ask before a Hollywood smile
Will it look fake?
Not if it is planned well. We choose natural shades and shapes and show you a mock-up before anything permanent is done.
Will my teeth be shaved down?
Composite veneers need little or no preparation. Porcelain usually needs a thin layer removed. We remove as little as possible.
Can I have just a few veneers?
Yes. Some people only need two to four front teeth treated. We plan the number that gives a balanced result.
Types of Hollywood smile treatment
Full Hollywood smile
Veneers on all the upper teeth that show when you smile, typically eight to ten, sometimes with the lower front teeth as well, for a complete makeover.
Partial smile makeover
Veneers on the four to six most visible front teeth, combined with whitening of the rest, for a natural, balanced improvement.
Composite bonding
Small chips, gaps and uneven edges repaired with tooth-coloured resin in a single visit, with no drilling of healthy enamel.
Crowns and veneers combined
Where some front teeth are heavily filled or root-treated, crowns may be used alongside veneers so all the teeth match.
Before your Hollywood smile: getting your mouth ready
A beautiful smile needs a healthy foundation. Before any veneers are made we treat decay, replace leaking fillings and make sure the gums are healthy, because inflamed gums change shape as they heal and can spoil the edge of a new veneer. A professional clean is usually the first step.
If you would like your other teeth lighter, we whiten them first so the veneers can be matched to the new shade. Planning in the right order saves time and money and gives a more natural finish.
A typical timeline
- Week 1: consultation, photos and smile design
- Week 1 to 2: any cleaning, fillings or whitening
- Week 2: mock-up and preparation
- Week 3: fitting of porcelain veneers
How much does a Hollywood smile cost in Sharjah?
The price depends on whether you choose composite or porcelain veneers and how many teeth are treated. A full Hollywood smile covers more teeth, so it costs more than one or two veneers. Any treatment needed first, such as gum care or fillings, also affects the total.
That is why we don’t put one number on this page that could be wrong for you. Your consultation is free and you get the full cost in writing before anything starts. Veneers are cosmetic, so they are usually not covered by insurance. That is where Tabby, Tamara and Toothpick help: you can spread the cost in instalments. Payment options.
