When is my next dental check-up due?
Enter the date of your last check-up and your last new toothbrush. We’ll show when each is due and add repeating reminders to your phone’s calendar.
Easy to forget, easy to fix
Most people mean to see the dentist every six months, then a year goes by. Small cavities and early gum problems don’t hurt, so they are easy to miss until they need bigger treatment.
This tool works out your due dates and creates calendar reminders that repeat by themselves. Your dates stay on your device and are never sent to us.
How often should you go to the dentist?
Every 6 months
Right for most adults and children. A check-up and cleaning twice a year.
Every 3 to 4 months
If you have gum disease, braces, diabetes, smoke, or get cavities often.
Every 12 months
Only if your dentist has advised it because your teeth and gums are consistently healthy.
When to change your toothbrush
Toothbrush bristles wear out and stop cleaning well. Change your brush or electric brush head every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles splay out. Change it after a cold, flu or mouth infection too.
See electric or manual toothbrush? and our 2-minute brushing timer.
Change it sooner if
- The bristles are bent or splayed
- You have been ill
- You have just finished gum treatment
- A child has been chewing it
